Last step to the Uefa Champions League groups

The first match in the Uefa Champions League 3rd preliminary stage took place last night in Firenze, where local team Fiorentina defeated Slavia Prague 2-0. Mutu was again the man of the match, the Romanian player getting a goal in the 3rd minute after a great free kick. Gilardino made it 2-0 and it looks like Fiorentina is one step closer to the group stage. Tonight the remaining matches will be played and the second legs will be on the 26th and 27th august. First day in Uefa Champions League qualifiers

Yersterday the Uefa Champions League 2008/2009 season started with the first preliminary round. No surprises took place but nobody knows what can happen in the second leg. These are the results:

Manchester United win the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE ! | VIDEO

Manchester United are the new champions of Europe ! The devils defeated Chelsea in the Champions League Final after the penalty kicks 6-5. It was 1-1 after 90 minutes thanks to goals scored by Ronaldo and then Lampard in the first half. Anelka missed the final penalty for Chelsea and sent the cup to Manchester. United win the Champions League after 9 years, with the same Ferguson on the bench, but this time after admiting of having the best team ever. These are the highlights and penalty kicks :

Chelsea is in the Uefa Champions League final where they will meet Manchester United, this season’s great rivals, the two teams also fighting to win the Premiership. The score was 1-1 after 90 minutes, but in the extra time , Chelsea got two goals , one by Lampard who scored a penalty, and one by Drogba after a great play from Anelka. Babel scored the 3-2 goal with 3 minutes left, but it wasn’t enaugh.These are the goals :

Manchester United is the first finalist of the Uefa Champions League after the win against Barcelona tonight 1-0, goal Scholes in the 14th minute. It will be an English final, the other semi-final confronting Chelsea and Liverpool (1-1 on Anfield 1st leg). These are the highlights :

 

All or nothing for Barcelona tonight

Mancester United and Barcelona play the second leg of the semi-finals in the Uefa Champions League tonight. It’s the last hope for Barca to save something from this season, in which they have lost the title and the Copa del Rey. Man Utd on the other hand is having better luck in the Premier League, the devils being in first place, with as much points as Chelsea. The first leg ended in a draw 0-0 on Camp Nou, but Barcelona have hteir chances, knowing that Vidic, the United defender might not play tonight . It’s going to be a game you wouldn’t want to miss

Barcelona and Manchester United ended in a draw the first leg of the Uefa Champions League semi-finals on Camp Nou. The game started great for the devils, Manchester getting a penalty kick in the 3rd minute. Cristiano Ronaldo took the shot and missed! After that, Barcelona took control of the game, and missed a few good chances. Manchester replied a few times, but something didn’t work in their game tonight Ronaldo didn’t shine as we all expected and so the decisive match will be on Old Trafford.

Last hope for Barcelona tonight

Tonight on Camp Nou will take place the second semi-final of the Uefa Champions League , where Barcelona meets Manchester. It’s the last chance for Barca to save something from this season, after they are curently in 3rd place, after Real and Villarreal in Primera. Manchester is having a great season, the devils being the leaders in Premier League and their star Cristiano Ronaldo is most likely to win FIFA Player of the Year award .

It will be a close game but as much as a Barcelone fan that I am, I must be honest and say that Man Utd has the better chances of going through .

Liverpool - Chelsea 1-1 | VIDEO

Chelsea managed to get a draw in the last minute of the game from Anfield, thanks to an own goal from Rise in the 90th minute. Liverpool scored first in the 42nd minute, goal signed Kuyt, but they lost all their hard work in the end. Chelsea is now favorite to go to the final with either Barcelone or Manchester, the teams that play the other semi-final tomorrow night.
