Zenit win the UEFA Cup ! | VIDEO

Zenit St. Petersburg is the new winner of the UEFA Cup. The Russians won the final against Glasgow Rangers 2-0 tonight and brought the cup back to Russia after 3 years. With the best striker of the competition suspended, the goals didn’t come as many as in theeir previous games, but Denisov 77′ and Zyrianov in the last minute made the difference in a game that was a bit one-sided. Rangers was the team with the best defence this year but the ambition of the Russians was too much for them . Congratulations Zenit !

Glasgow Rangers-Zenit the UEFA Cup final

Glasgow Rangers qualified on the penalty kicks against Fiorentina in Italy. After another 0-0 draw like in the first leg, they went to the 12 yard spot. Rangers missed the first penalty, but Fiorentina missed the 3rd and 4th , the 4th by Vieri, and when Glasgow scored the 5th, we all knew what the final looks like These are the penalties :

Bayern humiliated! Zenit - Bayern 4-0

Zenit St.Petersburg is in the UEFA Cup Final! The Russians humiliated Bayern Munich 4-0, and left the competition favorites in a state of disappointment. Zenit lost their top scorer Pogrebnyak, that scored two goals today, because of a yellow card received for a useless attack in the air against Lucio. They are now waiting for the other semi-final to end, so they could see who they will meet in the final, Fiorentina or Rangers. These are the highlights:

Bayern and Zenit St.Petersbutg have drawn the first leg of the semi-finals in the Uefa Cup. A big surprise, knowing that Bayern were favorites of winning the cup. The German side scored first in the 18th minute thanks to Ribery , but disaster in the second half : Lucio scored an own goal! Thus giving now the away goal for the Russians, and the first chance to qualify in the final. Here are some highlights :

Last night in Glasgow , Rangers and Fiorentina ended in a draw the Uefa Cup semi-final. It was a known fact that nobody scored there this season in the Uefa Cup, and although we were all expecting for Fiorentina to be the first, it looks like Rangers had a guardian angel as a goalkeeper These are the few highlights :

Incredible night in the Uefa Cup!
Adrian Mutu qualifies Fiorentina in the semi-finals after he scored twice on Phillips Stadium, scoring a beautiful first goal with a great shot from outside the box. Score on aggregate 3-1 and Fiorentina meet Glasgow Rangers in the semi-finals , the Scottish team winning in Lisbon against Sporting.
Contra strikes again against Bayern Munich after he scored in the first leg too, but the Germans qualify. The Romanian defender scored in the 44th minute the first goal of the match, but Ribery equalised in the 90th minute.After extra time Bayern goes through with agregate 4-4. The Munich team will meet Zenit in the semi-finals.

Leverkusen didn’t make the miracle

Bayer Leverkusen won today in St.Petersburg 1-0 against the home team Zenit, but they leave the Uefa Cup competition because of the 4-2 aggregate. Zenit hopes now to repeat the CSKA performance from 2005 when they won the competition. Leverkusen leaves Bayern Munich to be the only German team left in the European competitions who will have a tough match at Getafe Zenit will play with the winner from the quarterfinal Getafe - Bayern (1-1 first leg on Allianz Arena).

Incredible win for Zenit St.Petersburg

Zenit, the Russian champion, made an incredible game today in Leverkusen and won incredible 4-1 against the German side, which were favorites

The first half ended 1-1 after Zenit scored first, but in the second half the match went one sided and 3 goals were scored in 12 minutes, thus making it 4-1 for Zenit who can’t miss the semi-finals .They will play with the winner of the duel Bayern-Getafe if they make their 99.9% chances real

Today was revealed to the public,on occasion of the draws in Nyon,the official Nike ball for the Uefa Cup final 2008.
