A big surprise! In the same group, Romania lost 3-0 to Lituania, France lost 3-1 to an amazing Austria team. The score was opened by Philipe Mexes. Unfortunately for him, he confused the 2 goals and scored in his own net. Aufhauser made 2-0 just before the break.
In the second half Sidney Govou reduced the difference for about 10 or 11 minutes, when Ivanschitz transformed a penalty.

The other host of the EURO 2008 also lost their first game, Austria losing today 0-1 to Croatia, thanks to a penalty in the 4th minute. Austria didn’t show much, and those who said they are the underdogs of the EURO might be right. Two more tough games ahead of Austria make them a sure candidate for worst team of the tourney, if Romania doesn’t lose all the games in the group of death. These are the highlights :
Inter managed to get only a draw from the game against Siena in Milano 2-2, missing a penalty thanks to Materazzi. The miss didn’t have repercussions only on the pitch, and in a Pisa home, an Inter fan threw his 28 inch TV out the window ! The poor guy got a fine for throwing dangerous objects and Inter have to win the last game of the Seria A to be sure they win it, AS Roma being only 1 point behind now. Materazzi obtained the penalty, but in a desperate wish to become a hero, he missed it like a beginner and became the most cursed player form the team ;) . I wonder what that fan will do if Inter doesn’t win this title

Glasgow Rangers qualified on the penalty kicks against Fiorentina in Italy. After another 0-0 draw like in the first leg, they went to the 12 yard spot. Rangers missed the first penalty, but Fiorentina missed the 3rd and 4th , the 4th by Vieri, and when Glasgow scored the 5th, we all knew what the final looks like
